chilled cider

This event started in 2004 when I was invited by my favourite pub to programme some live and DJ music - and the weekend seems to have been enjoyed so much that it has become an annual event. Every June, around summer solstice weekend, at The Square and Compass pub in rural Dorset, there is a weekend of folk music, cider, perry and mead drinking and merriment aplenty. Admission is free.

Camping is plentiful locally. Try the popular Tom’s Field and Acton Fields in Langton Matravers (35 mins on foot) or if you are traveling by motor vehicle, Burnbake or Woodyhyde are within ten minutes drive. Woodyhyde in particular comes with several good recommendations.

The Chilled Cider 2010 weekend took place on June 26. 27 at The Square and Compass, Worth Matravers and was widely agreed to be our best yet.

Here are some images from the event over the years. Soundtrack by Show Of Hands.

Chilled Cider 2011 takes place on the weekend of June 11/12 and has what we consider to be our best live line-up yet, Corncrow, Newanderthal and The Memory Band live plus a solo act that we can’t announce yet. DJs include Pete Lawrence, centre edge, alucidnation, Chig Bill and Boss.  Admission is free. Scroll down for details of local camping.
